Analyst's note:  Absolutely must read and carefully considerater.  In addition to the article below, our friend and associate William J. Dell also prepared a strongly related open letter carefully prepared to the Republican Presidential candidates Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul.  In this letter, among other points, Mr. Dell stated:  "I, as a voter, don’t want to know about your opponent’s personal foibles. We all have them. I what to know why your programs to restore our Constitutional Republic are better than his. Compare and contrast your programs. Leave the character assassination of your fellow Republicans to the Democrats and don’t you help them along by making your fellow Republican “cannon fodder.

Our Founding Fathers stated in the Preamble of our Constitution that one of its purposes was to “secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.” In 1937, Stephen Vincent Benét wrote a short story called The Devil and Daniel Webster. From it I have taken the following quote:

Yes, Dan’l Webster’s dead – or, at least, they buried him. But every time there’s a thunderstorm around Marshfield, they say you can hear his rolling voice in the hollows of the sky. And they say that if you go to his grave and speak loud and clear, “Dan’l –  Dan’l Webster!” the ground’ll begin to shiver and the trees begin to shake. And after awhile you’ll hear a deep voice saying, “Neighbor, neighbor, how stands the Union?” Then you better answer, “The Union stands as she stood – oak-bottomed and copper-sheathed, one and indivisible!” or he’s liable to rear right out of the ground.

Daniel Webster (January 18, 1782 – October 24, 1852) was a leading American Statesman, Senator and prominent conservative from Massachusetts during the period leading up to the Civil War. He served 29 years in the Congress and as Secretary of State for three presidents. How would We the People answer his supposed query from the grave today? How would we respond to, “Neighbor, neighbor, how stands the Union?” Could we truthfully answer, “The Union stands as she stood – oak-bottom and copper-sheathed, one and indivisible?!” I think not.

I hear you saying, “Surely the Union is still one.” And I would agree that the fifty States are still one nation, but are We the People indivisible?

For more than fifty years We the People have been increasingly divided by a hyphen. America the “great melting pot” has become a sectioned plate as we have culturally divided into African-Americans, Mexican-Americans, Cuban-Americans, Italian-Americans, etc., etc. Before 1960 it was not so. Then We the People, individually and as a nation, proudly justly proclaimed that “I am an American.” We were then “indivisible” as a nation. But now look at what a simple little line has done. Do We the People even care anymore what is best for America as a whole? Or are we only interested in what is best for our cultural heritage? We the People, individually and as a nation, need to return to the sentiment of our grandparents and once again proclaim loudly “I am an American!” Not a hyphenated [divided] American – just “an American!”

For more than fifty years We the People have allowed special-interest groups to dictate the legislative agenda of our nation not based upon what is best for America but based upon their own narrow interests and their self-proclaimed agendas. We have seen this as the environmentalists have destroyed the logging industry in the Northwest under the guise of protecting “virgin” forests and spotted owls. Forests that had been planted by the big names in timber – Boise-Cascade, Weyerhaeuser, etc. and were not “virgin” at all. They replanted because they knew if they did not there would be no trees to harvest in the future. And the spotted owl – its habitat was not threatened at all as it ranged down into Central America. Are We the People better off with special-interest groups pitted against one another for limited dollars? Are We the People better off when our President, who for purely political interests, tables the Keystone XL Pipeline in the face of massive unemployment?

For more than seventy years We the People have seen the guardians of our Constitution, the Supreme Court, emaciate our First Amendment right of Freedom of Religion without citing a single precedent. In these ruling they have virtually destroyed the Judeo-Christian foundation of our Constitution and the ability to teach morality to the rising generation as they have continually ruled exercising the “establishment clause” while forgetting the “free exercise clause” of our First Amendment. It was John Adams, our Second President, who said, “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. . . . Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” I also agree with the sentiment of John Wayne as stated in Big Jim McLain, “There are a lot of wonderful things written into our Constitution. They’re meant for honest, decent citizens and I resent the fact that it can be used and abused by the very people who want to destroy it.” May God save the United States and this Honorable Court as it returns to both the spirit and the intent of the Constitution bequeathed to We the People by our Founding Fathers.

For more than eighty years We the People have allowed trade-unions to dictate the industrial agenda as they have sought higher and higher wages causing an ever increasing cost-of-living without being involved in the risk-taking of capitalism. The workers were hired at a fair wage which they agreed to and as such were being treated fairly. I will admit that the trade-unions did some good concerning work hours and safety issues early on but they have also done much harm to America as a whole economically. Our Founding Fathers only guaranteed an “equal opportunity” for We the People to achieve if we dared to take the risks. They did NOT guarantee We the People equal things through redistribution. Yes, the trade-unions have succeeded but at what cost for America as We the People have seen more and more jobs head overseas because of labor costs, and have seen efforts recently even to try and dictate where Boeing might build their new plant. Are We the People any better off with a gallon of milk costing $3.50 rather than$0.25? Are We the People any better off with a gallon of gasoline costing $3.50 rather than $0.30? It is the same product it just costs 10 to 15 times more. Are We the People better off with labor and management constantly at each other’s throats over the cost of retirement plans, etc.?

For more than one hundred years, the Socialist and Progressives, of both parties, have enacted legislation, ObamaCare being the latest and most egregious, to transform our Constitutional Republic into a Welfare Social State. Their Social-Justice Programs have been lauded as “a safety-net” and as “a hand up” for the “have-nots.” But, ALL of their programs, without exception, have really been designed by politicians and their supporters to enslave We the People and wrest control of the government from We the People and to place control in the hands of the politicians. They have been so successful that 47% of Americans are now on government assistance and beholden to the politicians who have made them “slaves” of the federal government contrary to the Tenth Amendment. Are We the People any better off when government steals through redistribution from “haves” to give to “have-nots?” Charity can never be forced. It must be given freely from the heart or it is not charity! The government cannot administer charity because the government can only give to its citizens what it first takes [steals] from another citizen. As has often been stated, “The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money.” Is that not what is happening in our Constitutional Republic today?

It is the year of our Lord Two Thousand Twelve and of the United States of America the Two Hundred and Thirty-fifth, We the People are arguably facing probably the most important election in our history. If We the People do not elect Statesmen concerned about our Constitutional Republic rather than politicians concerned only with their egocentric political careers to the halls of Congress and the Oval Office, We the People will fail in our individual responsibility as Americans. And as was stated by John Fillpot Currant in 1790, “It is the common fate of the indolent to see their rights become a prey to the active. The condition upon which God hath given Liberty to man is eternal vigilance; which condition if he break, servitude is at once the consequence of his crime and the punishment of his guilt.”

Lastly, the very real consequence of We the People’s failure to act as Americans during this 2012 election cycle is that we will be the first generation of Americans to fail in our responsibility to “secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.” If We the People do not correct our very badly listing “Ship of State,” how will we answer our Founding Fathers and Daniel Webster when they ask, “Neighbor, neighbor, how stands the Union?” I pray that We the People may end our divisiveness, particularly the politicians of both parties, and once again become the Americans who came here for religious freedom and built a nation that was the beacon of hope to the world until the Twentieth Century and the invasion by the Socialists and Progressives, of all ilks, into our universities, political parties and the public school system. Socialists and Progressives bent on changing our Constitutional Republic into a Welfare Socialist State through the education of the rising generation. I pray that our children and grandchildren will soon be able to answer once again, “The Union stands as she stood – oak-bottomed and copper-sheathed, one and indivisible!”

May God Bless and Save the United States of America
Our Constitutional Republic !
